Privacy notice
Last updated: 7 October 2026
The short version: reading this site shares nothing with me, and if you email me I use your message only to reply.
Who runs this site
This site is run by Mikey, an individual based in the UK, who is responsible for any personal data described here (the “controller”, in data protection terms). Contact is by email only: privacy@xb-labs.uk.
What this site does not do
- No accounts, sign-ups or forms.
- No analytics, tracking or advertising.
- No cookies, and nothing is stored on your device.
- No third-party services: fonts, images and code all come from this site, so your browser does not contact anyone else while you read it.
- I never sell or share personal data, and I make no automated decisions about you.
The server
Like every website, the server has to receive your device’s internet (IP) address to send you the pages. It does not keep a record of the pages you visit. If something goes wrong, a technical error log may briefly include an IP address. These logs are used only to keep the site working and secure, which is my legitimate interest, and they are overwritten automatically as new entries arrive.
The site is hosted on a server rented from Contabo GmbH, a German hosting company, which runs the machine and does not use your data for its own purposes.
If you email me
If you write to me (for example at mikey@xb-labs.uk), I receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. I use this only to read and reply to your message, which is my legitimate interest in answering people who get in touch.
- Messages pass through my domain provider’s email forwarding service (Namecheap) and are stored in a Gmail mailbox provided by Google. Google may store data outside the UK, under the safeguards set out in its own terms.
- I keep messages for up to 12 months after the conversation ends, then delete them, unless you ask me to delete them sooner.
Links to other sites
This site links to other websites, such as GitHub, Discord and my projects. If you follow a link, that site’s own privacy notice applies.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data I hold about you;
- ask me to correct it or delete it;
- ask me to limit how I use it, or object to my using it.
For most visitors I hold nothing at all; if you have emailed me, I hold that conversation. Email privacy@xb-labs.uk and I will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled a concern, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this notice changes, the date at the top will change too.
